Screen Enclosure Engineering

Project-specific screen enclosure drawings and coordination based on the layout, spans, roof type, attachments and support conditions.

An aluminum screen enclosure over a backyard pool at a Florida home

Screen enclosures are part of daily life in Florida, covering pools, patios and lanais. They are also structures in their own right, with aluminum frames, screen panels and connections to the house and to the slab or footings. Grey Load works with enclosure contractors and owners to develop and coordinate project-specific documentation, whether the enclosure is new, a replacement after storm damage, or an existing structure that needs after-the-fact documentation.

A complete request helps define the work

Provide the project address, the layout and dimensions, an available survey, roof information, photographs, foundation information and any existing permit documents. Identify unusual spans or support conditions at the start.

The agreed drawing package may address the layout, structural members, connections, attachments and foundation details. The required professional review and document issuance are identified for each project. Private Provider inspections are a separate service unless your proposal includes them.

Florida considerations

Wind is the main design load. Each enclosure is designed for the wind speed and exposure at its site, which sets frame member sizes, spacing and connections. Screen density and roof style change how much wind the structure catches. The attachment to the house fascia or wall has to be checked, along with the slab or footings the frame bears on. If the enclosure serves as the pool barrier, its doors may also need self-closing, self-latching hardware under Florida's pool safety rules.

Review and scheduling

We review the information, resolve missing conditions, develop the scoped documents and coordinate the applicable review and issuance. Larger or atypical enclosures may need additional engineering. Turnaround is confirmed for each assignment after the necessary inputs are reviewed.

Common questions

Is every enclosure a standard design?

No. Size, spans, roof type, connections and existing supports can change the work required.

Does the engineering scope include inspections?

Only when the proposal includes them. Engineering and Private Provider services are identified separately.

What should I send for a revision?

Identify the project and explain the change, with updated dimensions, sketches or photographs where relevant.

Request a project review.

Send the location and describe the work. We'll review the request, talk it through in a free consultation, and define the services it needs.
