Warehouses look simple from the road, but they carry specific engineering demands. Long roof spans, tall walls, heavy slab loads from racking and forklifts, loading docks, and large paved areas for trucks and equipment all need careful design. Projects include new buildings, foundations for pre-engineered metal buildings, conversions of existing warehouses to new uses, and pavement improvements for truck courts and equipment yards.

Florida engineering concerns

Large roofs and tall walls see high wind pressures, and big overhead doors need wind-rated products and solid anchorage. All that roof and pavement also creates a lot of runoff, so stormwater design and water management district permitting are central to the site. Slab and pavement design depend on soil conditions and the water table. The building's use affects fire protection and egress, which is why changes of use get a close code review.

How Grey Load helps

Depending on the scope, we provide structural design for foundations, slabs, and framing, civil design for grading, drainage, pavement, and truck access, and MEP coordination for lighting, power, and ventilation. Truck turning paths and dock approaches are checked as part of the site layout. For conversions, we evaluate the existing building against its new use. Every project starts with a free consultation.

Engineering scope definition

Defining the pavement improvement scope

The assignment was scoped around asphalt repair and replacement, rigid concrete areas, and grid pavement improvements. Engineering plans, pavement design, and permit-comment support were identified separately, with drainage, utility, and post-permit services outside this particular scope.
